How to build models?
Watch the video
Everyone knows that adults, like children, love to play toys, while some adult toys are used for entertainment and amusement, while others require a serious approach. One of these "serious" toys for adults can be considered prefabricated models. For many men, picking up cars, tanks, ships, etc. becoming a serious hobby. In this article we will talk about how to assemble the models correctly, what recommendations and tips must be followed in order for the work to be successful.
What to collect?
Of course, models can be assembled from any kind of materials - paper, iron, plastic, wood, leather, rubber, etc. But if we are talking about sets of parts for assembling models that can be bought in a store, then, as a rule, we are talking about plastic or wood. Models of both materials are assembled quite simply, although, as a rule, wooden models have to be painted, but plastic elements have the right colors right away.
Good work begins with a good tool, this is a well-known case, and therefore, in the matter of collecting models, one should begin with the selection of the right aids.Regardless of what material you want to build a model from, you will need a sharp knife or side cutters from high-quality materials (these items will help you to remove various clues and minor flaws). In addition to side cutters and / or a knife, sandpaper will be useful, as well as glue, paint and brushes.
Preparation of parts
In the matter of preparation, the material from which you decide to collect plays an important role. If you are dealing with a tree, then every detail must be carefully examined for "burrs" and with a side cutter or knife and emery paper to remove them, if any.
If your model is made of plastic, then, as a rule, all its parts are fixed initially on the so-called sprue. The parts are separated from the sprue with side cutters or a knife, and the cut points are ground with sandpaper.
Two helpful tips:
- Do not separate all parts from the sprue at once, as you risk losing small items.
- Despite the fact that, as a rule, the model is painted after assembly, it makes sense to paint especially small details before assembly.
We collect and sticking
So, our tools and parts are ready, which means you can start assembling the model. As a rule, the model is glued, but in some cases the assembly is carried out by special fastening mechanisms, with which every detail is provided. In the second case, the assembly work is similar to the puzzle collection, only in this case the puzzle is in 3D form. There is nothing difficult in this procedure, pick up and attach Circuits. As a matter of fact, there is no particular difficulty in gluing, too, but still we have to share some tricks.
If you need to glue a large part, you can use a brush or squeeze out the glue directly from the tube, however, be careful, glue the model with a glue is simple, but it is not always easy to clean, especially if most of the model is already assembled.
When gluing a small part for applying glue, you can use a regular sewing needle - stick it with a needle into the glue, and then carefully transfer it to the part. Since we are talking about small details, some of them (and maybe all) are already painted, and therefore, when gluing them, you need to take special care.
Anyway, be prepared for the fact that the glue will remain in the seams of the model, the reason lies in the fact that it "leaks" a little when pressing on the part when it is attached to the model. Dont be upset! This problem is solved. If you want to remove these flaws, use a special model putty, it is applied easily using a conventional wooden toothpick, and is purchased at any large store that sells models. Sometimes putty may be included in the model kit.
We paint and varnish
Professionals for painting models use a special tool called an airbrush. This tool sprays the paint with compressed air, while it has a miniature size, and therefore allows you to perform work neatly, and paint overlay the most evenly. However, for beginnersYou can use the usual brushes and paints. Important point! When painting models it is not recommended to mix paints. If you want to get gray, buy gray immediately, and do not mix black and white. Professionals assure that mixed colors peel off faster.
Even if you worked with high-quality paint and did not mix anything, the model must be varnished, otherwise the paint will fade.
At the beginning of the article we said that, as a rule, it is not necessary to paint plastic models, but there are, nevertheless, plastic models for painting. In this case, it is necessary to take a very responsible approach to the choice of paint and varnish, since some types of paint corrode some types of plastic.
The set of assembly elements for a tank, a ship, etc., as a rule, includes special elements - masts, cables, miniature pirates and sailors. When paint andvarnish is dry, you can do, perhaps, the most fun work - the placement of these same auxiliary elements. Here, perhaps, there is no need to give any advice - everything is up to you!
Well, we hope our tips will help you to assemble a truly beautiful model.
