An opera singer, a talented teacher and director, died at the age of 86 from a disease. Galina outlived her husband, the great musician Mstislav Rostropovich, by 5 years.
For the past ten years, she has led the opera singing center of her name. She was the chairman of the jury of the Open International Competition of Opera Artists and actively helped young talents.
She celebrated her 85th birthday last fall.
