The French authorities, at the request of the shareholders of the Yukos company, have arrested Russian assets in France. Earlier, the same thing was done by the Belgian government.
Thus, according to the head of VTB Andrei Kostin, in France, accounts of Russian companies in the subsidiary of a Russian bank were arrested. At the same time, sources close to the shareholder of YUKOS report that in the future Russian assets may be arrested in other countries.
Information about the arrest of Russian property in France and Belgium was confirmed by presidential aide Andrei Belousov, who said that Russia is going to challenge this decision because of its illegality.
YUKOS, which existed from 1993 to 2007, was one of the largest Russian companies. In 2003, the head of Yukos was arrested. Soon the company's property was sold, most of its shares were transferred to Rosneft.
