All about cervical dysplasia

Dysplasia is a disease in which there is a change in the structure of the mucous membrane of the cervix. In fact, this condition is precancerous. Due to dysplasia, the structure of the mucous epithelium is disturbed, its cells begin to thicken and expand.

If men, if there are problems with the genitals, require a urologist, Kiev, the center of urology, women are required to consult a gynecologist. The only trouble is that dysplasia in 99 cases out of 100 proceeds without any and it is not easy to determine its presence. That is why the gynecologist should at least once a year undergo a scheduled examination. The doctor will be able to detect the initial signs of the disease and start its treatment in time.

It happens that with dysplasia certain symptoms appear:

  • painful feelings during sexual intercourse;
  • discharge with an unpleasant odor;
  • burning and itching of the vulva;
  • aching pains in the abdomen.

When dysplasia is suspected, doctors conduct a series of laboratory and instrumental examinations, in particular:

  1. targeted biopsy;
  2. cytology smear;
  3. colposcopy;
  4. PCR.

Prevention and treatment

To never know what cervical dysplasia is, disease prevention is something that needs special attention. Preventive measures are very simple. A woman needs to eat right, say goodbye to bad habits and regularly (1-2 times a year) to visit a gynecologist.

The method of treatment of the disease is selected on an individual basis - depending on the progression of the disease, the age of the patient and a number of other factors. If the woman is younger than twenty years old or it is a first-degree dysplasia (superficial lesion of the cervix), doctors adhere to waiting tactics. In other cases, they resort to surgical treatment.

The operation is carried out by specialists after a comprehensive examination of the patient. During surgery, doctors remove the damaged area of the cervix, cauterize the tissue with an electric current or act on them with a laser.

Rehabilitation period

After surgery, a woman may feel pain in the lower abdomen, which will soon pass. In order to avoid the occurrence of complications, the patient for 4-6 weeks after surgery should refrain from sex, do not go to saunas and baths, try not to lift heavy objects.

3 months after the operation, the doctors conduct control cytological examinations and colposcopy. If the patient is in good condition, after a year she is removed from the dispensary register.
